Camping in the Jamison Valley is a great experience. It is generally cooler than the surrounding townships in summer and warmer in winter.

Although the valley is quite steep there are many less slopey areas to pitch a tent. Water is scarce in many spots and creeks are not clean. Take as much water as you can carry and purification tablets for when you need to use ground water.

Camping is currently permitted anywhere in the Jamison valley but there have been intimations from NWPS that camping on top of Mt Solitary will soon be closed. They have set up two toilets near the Ruined Castle to encourage hikers to camp there.
